Elena Peralta
Teaches Typography
Elena Peralta is a type and graphic designer. She studied graphic design at the ESD Madrid and moved to Barcelona to study the master’s degree in Advanced Typography at EINA. She worked as a type designer at the packaging studio Serienemo for three years. After that she moved to The Hague and graduated in the Master of Type and Media at KABK. She has worked for two years at Dalton Maag as a font developer, working on custom and library projects for the London-based foundry.
She currently works as a freelancer, collaborating with clients, studios and foundries on typographic projects, brand identity, editorial design and lettering. She creates typefaces from the conceptual stage to the production phases, developing custom and library fonts, from the initial concept and sketches through experimentation to create typefaces that, together with graphic design systems, enhance and amplify the identity of the project.
“Learning to express ideas through typographic concepts and its design is essential for any creative. Experimenting with different media strengthens the designer’s skills and opens up new possibilities for visual communication. Looking at the past for references allows reinterpreting them and projecting a different approach to the future.”
